Manage security in the PROD environment

The PROD (Production) environment is your organization's live environment.

Depending on how your organization's security is set up this will determine how the user will access Serraview.

Single-Sign On (SSO) Manual

If your business uses SSO, then the user will either:

  • Sign in with SSO
  • Automatically Sign in with Force SSO

Refer to Sign into Serraview.

The user can sign into Serraview manually.

Refer to Sign into Serraview.

Users who have forgotten their password will need to contact their IT team.

If you are using the manual sign in method, the user can reset their password from the Sign In screen.

Refer to Reset password (from the Sign In screen).

The user can request a Serraview user account from the Sign In screen. This can be used when you do not have SSO (single sign-on) set up in your environment, 

Refer to Request a user account (from the Sign In screen).

Serraview can utilize IP restrictions for several different parts of the system. The most common use for IP restrictions is to access Locator, which shows employee locations in near real-time view, refer to Sign in and IP restrictions.

Depending on how the user access is setup will determine what action the System Administrator will need to complete on the user accounts in the PROD Environment.

Single-Sign On (SSO) Manual
If your organization is using the SSO method, then you will need to contact your IT team to add the user. 

The System Administrator can create a user accounts, refer to Add a Serraview user account.

If your organization is using the SSO method, then you will need to contact your IT team to add the test user. 

The System Administrator can create a test user account so they can test the set up for:

  • BOS emails
  • Workplace Administrator emails
  • Service Request emails
  • Test the security roles

Refer to Add a test user account.

When a new user is created as an SSO user, then this user will be created in Serraview and will have a default user role. The System Administrator can set the default user role, refer to set the default user role also they can modify the role's secured actions, refer to Manage User Roles.

The System Administrator can modify the role's secured actions, refer to Manage User Roles.

The Serraview Service Account is used when you are setting up access to the Serraview V2 API.

Refer to Register a Serraview Service Account.

If you need to convert from SSO user to Normal/SSO user.

 

Users who have locked their account will need to contact their IT team.

When a user has entered their password incorrectly more than the permitted number of times in a row, their account will be locked in Serraview. The System Administrator can unlock the user account.

Refer to Unlock or lock the user account.

Users who have forgotten their password will need to contact their IT team.

If needed the System Administrator can send out the reset a user account's password.

Refer to Reset password by the System Administrator.

If your organization is using the SSO method and you want to archive a user, then you will need to contact your IT team.

If needed the System Administrator can archive a user account.

Refer to Remove (archive) a user account.

New users can also be created within the Workplace module via Workplace Administration, however this method is used to create Workplace Manager or Administrators only. For more information, refer to Workplace Administration.
