SVLive1 has been designed to minimize any impact on the network by:
Publishing changes only instead of periodic status updates when the status may not have changed.
Utilizing Protobuf encoding for messages from LDM to MLS, and from MLS to Serraview hosted services to minimize consumed bandwidth.
Caching partial switch scan information when possible, allowing less frequent scans.
Performing full switch scans infrequently and out-of-hours.
Serraview MLS uses SNMP to communicate with the network switches. SNMP utilizes UDP (User Datagram Protocol) as its communications protocol, generating very little additional network traffic and allowing the network to drop the request if there is congestion.
