Methods of Data Transfer

At implementation, the Serraview Onboarding Manager works with the Corporate Real Estate team and your IT team to agree on the most efficient ways to input data into the system initially and then how to update the data to maintain your Portfolio.

There are several methods to transfer data into and out of Serraview.

Import Export

SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol)

SFTP is a secure way to automate data feeds into Serraview. Talk to your IT Team to set this up. This is the simplest and most reliable way to transfer data on a regular basis is to set up an SFTP connection to transfer files directly to or from Serraview.

This process involves a secure connection being made from the Client to Serraview's SFTP, and files being sent through on a regular basis to update the Serraview data. Currently the majority of the Client SFTP setups use the automated, nightly update of People data import, a monthly Organizational Unit Hierarchy import. Some clients use the transfer to update the Badge Swipe, Occupancy or Team stacking data.

My Imports

You can prepare the import file, either CSV or XLS files, from scratch and then import the data in bulk for quick and easy update of Serraview. For example, your allocation, occupancy, building and people data. The My Import includes the ability to complete a trial run to make sure the data will import without any errors. Learn more in Data Imports (My Imports).

File Upload

The File Upload tool is used to send files to us in a secure manner for processing by Serraview Support team.  Learn more in File Upload.

Some examples where File Upload is used are:

  • CAD files for new floors.
  • Mark-ups for minor updates to existing floorplans including refits, team allocations, or occupancy.
  • Ad-hoc imports that a user may require assistance with, such as a workpoint or occupancy import.

Automated Report Imports

After you have the automated report set up, you can import the automated reports to automatically and seamlessly manage your portfolio data. To set up the ARI we use report builder, automated reports, and automated imports to automate business rules without the assistance of our technical team. Learn more in Automated Report Imports.

Some examples where clients have used ARIs to automate business rules are:

  • Team - delete empty teams
  • Team - match team workpoint allocation to blocking
  • Workpoint - match workpoint blocking to occupant's cost center

Manual Entry

When the information is not available in a spreadsheet or you have a smaller portfolio, the Serraview modules can be used to update the data manually. For example, update occupancy in the Block and Stack (VBS), add or remove people in the People Directory, and modify an Organization Unit hierarchy.

Serraview Core API

You can use the Serraview Core API to extract data from Serraview. The API can be used to:

  • Search for people information, including images that display the person's assigned location.
  • Fetch building information, including floorplan images with option space type highlighting.
  • Request and assign desks for new employees.

Insights

Serraview Insights provides you with:

  • Interactive dashboards - allows your users to make data-driven decisions the dashboards can be scheduled.
