Most of our clients will have an SFTP setup to automatically import in the Org Unit data and the People data. Below is an example where the Org Unit and the People data is uploaded via SFTP and then processed before is populated into Serraview.

Update the People Data File

When you want to update the People data file with a new column, then you will need to complete the following.

Step 1. Update your HR System and People data file

Responsible: Client IT Team

You will need to arrange to have your HR System to include the new column for Booking Grade or you may have this already in existence. Next, you need to arrange to have the People data file updated to include the new column so that this data is extracted. For example, here you can see the Booking Grade column is added and row(s) are populated.

Step 2. Verify the HR Extract

You will need to verify that the People data file sent via SFTP contains the new column.

From Serraview, complete the following:

  1. Navigate to Admin Settings > Data Imports.

  2. Click the Recent Message menu item.

  3. Either search or browse to the most recent file. For example, MYCOMPANY_HR.csv

  4. Click the file to download it.

  5. Check that the new column is in the file.

If it doesn’t contain the new column, then you will need to contact your IT team.

Step 3. Map the Field Name

If you have an existing pre-processor then you can update the mapping in Serraview as per the instructions below. However, if your Import Mapping field is empty, then you will need to contact Support team to help complete the mappings OR if the Support team determines this is a complex pre-processor then you will need to consult with Professional Services team.

From Serraview, complete the following:

  1. Navigate to Admin Settings > System Config.
  2. Click General > Data Imports.
  3. In the Import Mapping field, enter the mapping.

The format is:

ClientNewColumnName → SerraviewFieldName

For example:

EmployeeGrade → BookingGrade

It is important to note that the arrow → is a special character.

  1. Click the Update button to save the mapping.

Depending on when your People data file is scheduled to run, for example, daily or weekly, you will need to wait until this is completed before you can check if the field is populated in Serraview’s People Directory.
