SVLive Health
To make sure your SVLive implementation remains healthy, you will need to consider the following.
- Change Management - We recommend incorporating SVLive into your Change Management process so that any changes to your network, switches, wired, and WAPs are planned and monitored in order to minimize disruptions. Our knowledge center contains information on this. Learn more in SVLive Change Management.
- Maintenance - Even when you have Change Management processes in place, there will be regular maintenance that will need to occur. From your People data to Switch maintenance, we have process flows to help you complete maintenance. This ensures optimal functionality and accuracy.
- Troubleshooting - We have troubleshooting process flows to help you understand symptoms and then point to actions to rectify the issue. Learn more in SVLive2 Troubleshooting.
Maintenance
Below is an overview of the maintenance for SVLive and the process flows and details can be found in SVLive2 Maintenace.
- People Data Maintenance
First, we start with the People Data Maintenance. Where you want your list of employees to be regularly imported into Serraview's people directory. Without this regular import, new starters will not show in SVLive . Also, you need to make sure the System Logon matches the Device Logon they use or we won't be able to capture the SVLive information for the person.
- SPS Maintenance
Next, is the SPS Maintenance, where you will need the "Serraview Presence Service" or SPS running on the user's device.
- Wi-Fi Maintenance
This maintenance is to make sure your WAPs or Wi-Fi Access Points are mapped into the configuration.
- Switch Maintenance
Switch maintenance makes sure SVLive configuration knows your current-state of office Network Access Switches. Also, this makes sure the switches are configured to allow the SVLive Switch Scanner to connect, authorize, and collect the necessary information to calculate workstation-level utilization.
- Wireup Maintenance
Wireup is the administrative maintenance process of mapping the correct Network Switch Port ID to a Workstation ID.
- Switch Scanner Maintenance
When there is any significant change to your production Network Switches setup, like during a fit-out or refurbishment, or upgrading switches from one vendor to another, it is important to make sure the Switch Scanner can connect, authorize, and retrieve data from the updated Switches. A command-line diagnostic utility tool is provided to help verify the Switch Scanner to Switch dataflow is working as expected.
- Firewall & Proxy Maintenance
Finally, the last maintenance item is the Firewall and Proxy Maintenance. If there are changes to your organizational Firewall Vendor or Network Proxy, it is critical the SVLive dataflow is not impacted, and maintains its Uptime SLA commitments. The SVLive endpoint includes IP-address rules, so it is critical to keep your Public HTTPS Egress IP Address ranges up-to date, so SVLive accepts traffic from devices within your corporate network.
