Install and set up the Switch Scanner Service
The SVLive Switch Scanner provides an MSI-based installer which removes the need to complete the installation using scripts. This installer contains the settings that you need to set locally on the switch scanner. The installation is straightforward, efficient, and faster installation, which reduces the manual errors to quickly provide real-time utilization information from scanning network switch usage.

Pre-requisites
- Virtual Machine has been provisioned by the Client, as per the minimum specifications for hardware, see Operating Environment.
- A System Administrator from the Client IT team is required to run the installation (on the Virtual Machine that has been provisioned).
Download artifacts
Download the SVLive Presence Service from Serraview’s Document Library and the Switch Scanner Service installation file will be provided by the Professional Services team.
Copy files to a new folder on the Virtual Machine, for example, C:/Serraview/

The actual values are provided during the implementation.

Logon user |
Domain and user specification of what account the switch scanner service will log on as. This user must be a member of the “Performance Monitor Users“ group on the local server, to allow the Switch Scanner to send some health telemetry from the local server. It must also have “Log on as a service” policy. |

Proxy address |
Address of the proxy, in the format SERVER:PORT. Do not include http or https |
Encrypt configuration |
If the Switch Scanner API key is encrypted in the stored configuration file. The user must have a Windows Local User Profile and must also have read/write access to the location in which the Switch Scanner is installed. |
Install the Switch Scanner Service
- Double-click the installation file called SVLiveSwitchScannerSetup3.6.0.875-master.msi and the SVLive Switch Scanner Service Setup dialog displays.
- Click the Next button.
- Click the Install button.
The installation starts and when it is complete, the "Completed the SVLive Switch Scanner Service Setup Wizard" displays.
- Click the Finish button.
This installed the SVLive Switch Scanner Service as a program in Windows and it installs the SVLiveSwitchScannerWorkerService (you will find this running in the Task Manager).
SVLive Switch Scanner Service
From the Windows Start Menu, open the SVLive Switch Scanner Service and the complete the relevant tabs:

- Wireup Service tab
- Advanced tab
Cloud API tab
Under Cloud API tab you will find configuration for endpoints.
Area | Description |

Switch Scanner ID |
Switch Scanner ID should be set to 1. |
Endpoint Address |
Endpoint address is the Switch Scanner API endpoint from the AWS. |
Encrypt API Key in Local Storage | If you select the ‘Encrypt API Key in Local Storage’ then when you re-open the manager the key will be blank. |
API Key |
This is the API key configured while deploying the stack. |
Proxy | If the client uses a proxy then the Use Proxy option should be selected and proxy address should be provided. |
After filling the above details, you can test if API configuration is correctly set by clicking Test Cloud API Connection button.
Network Switches tab
Area | Description |

Wireup Service tab
Here you can select the wire-up service’s port and if you want to run it in HTTPS mode you will have to provide a valid certificate for the same.

Scheduler Configuration - Maximum Concurrency |
By default, the maximum concurrency is set to 5 or you can change the number. This runs concurrent switch scans, for example, if there is 20 switches, then it will attempt to run 5 separate requests to the switches. |
Logging |
Check the Enable Local Logging check box to turn logging ON and then select the Log Level. All the logging files are saved at %ProgramData%\Eptura\SVLiveSwitchScanner\logs |
Save the Settings
When you press the Save & Exit button, the application will prompt you with appropriate errors if the inputs are incorrect. If everything is in order, then it will save the configuration and restart the Switch Scanner service.
