Edit Drawing Publishing Rules

When you publish drawings as enterprise graphics , the application uses drawing publishing rules that determine the output file format and the layers that are published. Archibus provides default drawing publishing rules that you can use as is. If needed, you can use the Edit Drawing Publishing Rules task ( ab-sys-afm-dwg-pub-gd.axvw ) to edit these rules, to add new rules, or to deactivate rules that you are not currently using.

Note: For your convenience, Archibus provides a task specific to the Mobile Apps Manager for editing the drawing publishing rules that are provided for use with the Archibus mobile apps. Mobile App Managers can use this Web Central task to edit the mobile-related publishing rules: System / Mobile Apps Manager / Edit SVG Drawing Publishing Rules . (ab-sys-afm-dwg-pub-svg-gd.axvw)

Procedure

To edit or create new drawing publishing rules:

  1. In the Smart Client Navigator, select System / CAD and BIM Manager / Edit Drawing Publishing Rules .

The grid view for adding or editing a rule appears.

  2. To add anew rule, double- click in the first row that is a blank row for adding a new rule. To edit an existing rule double click in one of its fields to edit it.
  3. Add or edit the following fields as needed:
    Field Description
Rule Code The unique identifier for the rule without any spaces. This is the primary key
Title A description of the rule that helps identify it. For example, "Publish rooms and equipment for floor plans."
Active? Select No to deactivate the rule so that it is not used. The other selections are in the list for backwards compatibility with Wndows Client/Server. Selecting any selection other than 'No' will essentially activate the rule.
Type See below table, in Step 4.
AutoCAD Drawing View Enter a named view that the application restores before publishing. A named view consists of a specific magnification, position, and orientation that you have saved for the drawing using the Auto CAD View command. For example, if you have drawings for the east and west areas of your campus, you could create a named view for each of these areas
    Additional Layers

    Use this field to specify:

    • the background layers (for example, walls and doors) that should be published as untagged lines, arcs, shapes, (blocks), paths (polylines)
    • the asset layers that contain assets that should be published

The Extension publishes any layers that are listed as Additional Layers, and might also publish what is seen in CAD at the time of publishing , depending on how the optional value , TURNOFFALL* , is set. This value enables you to restrict publishing to only the layers listed in the Additional Layers field.

    • If the TURNOFFALL* value is included in the Additional Layers field, then only the layers that are explicitly specified in the Additional Layers will be published.
    • If TURNOFFALL* is not included, then Publish Enterprise Graphics publishes what you see in CAD at the time of publishing plus any other layers in the Additional Layers field
  4. You can make the following selections to specify the type of file to which this rule publishes. Choose an option from the drop-down list.
    Value for Type Field Description
    All Generate all below formats.
SVG Publishes to SVG format only. Used for mobile and all Web Central views.
EMF Publishes to EMF format only. For paginated reports.
SVG and EMF Published to both SVG and EMF formats.
SVG and JSON Publishes to SVG and JSON. JSON is used for GIS and enhanced map views.
JSON Publishes to JSON, which is used for GIS and enhanced map views.
    Serraview For use with Serraview.

Note : The only selections that are currently supported for the Type field are listed above. All other selections are shown in the list for backwards compatibility with the Client/Server product, but they are not supported for use. Selecting any of these unsupported values essentially deactivates the rule.

The Windows Client/Server product has been discontinued. Beginning with V.25.1, Windows Client/Server compatibility is not supported, although the features supporting Client/Server compatibility remain in Web Central and Smart Client. If you need to work with these features, use a pre-V.25.1 version of Archibus
