Launching Web Central
You have the choice of running the Web Central views within Web Central, or running them inside the Windows-based Smart Client where you load them in an embedded browser window. Using the Smart Client platform, you can run the Web Central applications and modules as a single-user, as part of a departmental workgroup, or as an enterprise Web deployment.
Running these applications from the Smart Client enables you--all from within the same application--to.:
- bulk update data and create floor plan drawings
- publish your work to the enterprise
- view the results on the Web
Access Web Central views with these methods:
- The Smart Client offers common Web Central views that display in an embedded browser window. In the below image, the user has selected the "View Building Performance Analysis" web view from the Smart Client's .
- You can launch Web Central from the Smart Client by selecting the Navigate / Web Central command from the Ribbon.
To launch Web Central in a separate browser window
If you want to see the Smart Client “production” view of the data and the Web “enterprise” view of the data side-by-side, you can run the Navigator / Web Central command from the Ribbon. This launches Web Central in a separate browser window with the current user logged in. The Web Central view shares the same session as the Smart Client so you don't need to log in again.
The Navigator / Web Central command provides access to the “Web Navigator” processes that are assigned to you.
This command also provides access to such features as:
- certain system administration features, such as the Application Update Wizard
- administrator features that enable you to manage user passwords
- View Definition Wizard
