Exploring the Archibus Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD
The Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD is built on the AutoCAD program.
If you have the Extension, when you load the AutoCAD program, AutoCAD automatically loads the Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD .
In almost all respects, working with AutoCAD with the Archibus Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD is like working with AutoCAD alone. When you use a command that has a consequence to the Archibus project or its associated data, the programs make the right adjustments or prompt you for the relevant information.
The Extension adds the following to the AutoCAD interface:
Explorer Pane
The Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD adds the Explorer pane to the left side of the AutoCAD window. The Explorer pane has tabs holding:
To display and hide the Explorer
- Hide and display the Explorer window using the Archibus / Explorer command on the Ribbon.
- The Explorer pane also has controls for hiding, docking, and resizing the pane.
Archibus Tabs on the AutoCAD Ribbon
The Archibus-specific commands for the Archibus Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD are found on the Archibus and Utilities tabs of the AutoCAD Ribbon.
The Archibus Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD adds the following tabs to the standard AutoCAD Ribbon.
Archibus tab
The following image shows the Archibus tab that holds the most frequently used commands. Note that if you minimize the screen size, the command text is replaced by icons to accommodate the smaller space. You can mouse over an icon to see a text description of the command. In the following image the icons for the Info commands have changed to icons
