Comparing Language or Glossary Files from Different Databases

To compare language or glossary files from different databases:

  1. Connect to the first localization database.
  2. Export the language or the glossary files:
    1. Select the System / Localization Manager / Export or Import Localization Extract Files task, or Export or Import Glossary Files task. For more details, see Export Localization Extract Files, or How to Use the Glossary Process.
    2. Click the Export Extract Files button or the Export Glossary Extract File button.

      When the export is completed, the Exported Files section fills in with the URLs for the exported files.

  1. Connect to the second localization database.
  2. Import the language or the glossary files:
    1. Select the Technologies / Localization / Export or Import Localization Extract Files task, or Export or Import Glossary Files task. For more details, see Import Localization Extract Files or How to Use the Glossary Process .
    2. Click the Import or Compare Extract Files button, or the Import or Compare Glossary Extract File button.

      The Data Transfer Wizard appears.

    3. Select the Compare option, and click Continue.

    4. Browse to the file you just exported.

    5. Click Begin Transfer.

    The Transfer Progress tab indicates the progress of the comparison. The bottom section of the screen gives the URL to the Comparison reports (Insert and Update logs). Click on a URL to load the report.

    The Insert log shows the records that were newly added; the Update log shows the records that were changed.

    If you import the data, from the Edit views, the Data Transfer Status field shows the differences between the two (for example, Inserted or No change). From these views, you can sort and filter on the Data Transfer Status field to review the differences between the databases. See About the Data Transfer Status Field.
