Define Action Types for Taxes

Cost administrators can add action items to organize tax activities and to serve as reminders of important tax-related issues, such as the deadline for filing a tax report or paying a tax bill. Each of these actions has an Action Type to facilitate locating and managing it. The application comes with predefined action types, but you are able to add action types for taxes if additional ones are needed.

Making new TAX action items types available in the Costs application has two steps.

  1. Add the new TAX action types as described in the below procedure.
  2. Add these action types as values for the PropertyTaxActionTypes application parameter. This step is needed to have these action types appear in the Costs views for managing taxes. See Configuring Additional Action Types for Property Taxes.

Predefined action types

The following are the predefined action types. If additional TAX action types are needed, you can define the additional types.

  • TAX - SCHEDULE REASSESSMENT
  • TAX - REVIEW
  • TAX - ESTIMATE MARKET VALUE
  • TAX - CHALLENGE REASSESSMENT

Procedure: Adding action types for taxes

The Define Action Type for Taxes screen appears. The Action Types pane shows the action types that have already been defined for taxes.

  2. Click Add New.

The Define Action Types form appears.

  3. Enter the following information

Action Type . Enter the type of action. Your entry will be added the prefix 'TAX -'

Action Type Description : Enter a short description of this action type to help identify it in lists.

Action Type Instructions . Enter the general instructions for this type of action, such as the general steps and timing required for payment.

  4. Click Save.

Next step

To have these TAX action types appear in the Costs views for managing taxes, you must dd these action types as values for the PropertyTaxActionTypes application parameter. This is done using the Configure Application Parameters task. See Configuring Additional Action Types for Property Taxes .
