A Safety Officer Managing the Requirements of the Company's Safety Program

Objective

Depending on the industry of your company, you likely have an established safety program that outlines:

  • the safety-related training requirements for various jobs, such as training on handling chemicals, working with machinery, or responding to accidents.
  • medical requirements for various positions, such as the ability to pass a physical to perform a job, an annual eye test for operating machinery, or an annual hearing test to ensure that your hearing is not being damaged as a result of manufacturing noise at your work site. This is known as medical monitoring .
  • personal protective equipment (PPE) that protects employees when performing certain tasks. This can include air masks, hazmat suits, hard hats, safety helmets, bullet-proof vests, and so forth.

With the general safety program requirements outlined, safety officers need to implement the safety program at their site by:

  • assigning requirements to employees based on their job
  • assigning employee-specific requirements to specific employees
  • scheduling safety events to occur
  • rescheduling events when necessary
  • documenting the details of the events that occur

Solution

The Archibus Health & Safety application provides an automated system for handling the details of implementing a corporate safety program. With the safety program requirements and its execution details documented in an automated system, safety officers can efficiently manage the safety program and generate the documentation required by governing regulations.
