Workplace Overview

Archibus Workplace

Workplace is for self-service users, such as employees, building guests, and contractors, who need to perform tasks such as:

  • initiate requests for maintenance and building services such as copying or paper shredding
  • initiate requests for moves. meeting space, or working space (Requires licenses. See Managing Workplace.)
  • make other types of requests particular to their company
  • attach documents (such as png, jpg, pdf, doc) to service requests. The exact set of file types users can upload is customer-specific and is specified in the\WEB-INF\config\context\compatibility\afm-config.xml file.
  • check on requests that they have entered
  • search for rooms and locate them on floor plans
  • search for employees  and locate their assigned space (based on their permanent or hotel location) on a floor plan, and then book near or next to the employee
  • select a neighborhood and highlight it on the floor plan, and then book a workspace in the neighborhood
  • search for a department and examine on a floor plan all the space assigned to this department
  • review a floor plan and see each department's space on that floor

Self-service users can access Workplace from:

  • desktops
  • phones and tablets by using browser; or by using the Workplace stand-alone mobile app
  • walk-up kiosks
  • a tablet mounted in a conference room
  • by scanning a QR code in a room or on a piece of equipment and then entering a request for this item

Your Administration can set up Archibus Workplace so that all users throughout the organization can manage their working environment.

Workplace Views

Archibus Workplace has these views:

  • Dashboard - This provides a summary of your current meetings and open requests, where you can search for people and places, and where you can book a meeting space or a workspace.

  • Request Services - Service Catalog focuses on making requests and searching for rooms or people. Access this screen from the Services card on the Workplace dashboard.

V.2022.02 introduced the above streamlined Dashboard view. Since you can easily access the Service Catalog from the streamlined Dashboard, the Service Catalog URL (https://domain(:port)/archibus/workplace?action=servicecatalog) was set to redirect to the Dashboard view. If you have old bookmarks of this URL, you will see that Archibus redirects to the Dashboard (unless you are running in Accessibility mode).

  • Kiosks - When run from a kiosk, Workplace highlights a floor's rooms by department. This highlight helps to orient guests and occasional users to the floor plan.
