Adding Commercial Aircraft Factors

Commercial aircraft factors measure greenhouse gas emissions by commercial aircraft seat class and type of flight. You enter the protocol versions you are using for this emissions data, and then enter the factor data for each seating type and distance you want to include in your greenhouse gas emissions inventory.

To add commercial aircraft factors:

  1. Select Carbon Footprint - Background Data / Commercial Aircraft Factors.

The Define Commercial Aircraft Factors Versions, Types, and Emissions Data form appears.

  2. To add a commercial aircraft protocol version:
    1. Click Add New > Commercial Aircraft Factors Version.
    2. Enter the following information:

Version: Enter the name of the protocol version you are using for commercial aircraft consumption factors. The Version field uniquely identifies this protocol version.

Version Description: Enter a description for the protocol, such as the table number the data is found in, or the year the data is for.

    3. Click Save.
  3. To add commercial emission factors by seating and distance type:
    1. From the drill-down list, select the protocol for which you want to add emission factors.
    2. Click Add New > Commercial Aircraft Factors Type and Data.
    3. Enter the following information:

Seating Type: Select the type of seating for which you are entering consumption data.

Distance Type: Enter the distance type for which you are entering consumption data.

CO 2 per seat / CO 2 Units: Enter the CO 2 emitted per seat as defined by this protocol, and the units used to measure the emission. By default, CO 2 is measured as kilogram/mile, but you can define different units if needed. See Defining Units .

CH 4 per seat / CH 4 _N 2 O Units: Enter the CH 4 emitted per seat as defined by this protocol. By default, CH 4 is measured as gallons/mile, but you can define different units if needed.

N 2 O per seat: Enter the Nitrous Oxide emitted per seat as defined by the protocol. The units are the same as your entry for CH 4 .

    4. Click Save.
