Objective

Regulations typically have requirements which consist of events that must be completed on a recurring schedule, such as permits and licenses that need to be renewed by a particular date. These events can be numerous and completing them on time is critical to avoiding fines and penalties. To track and manage requirements, you first need to schedule these recurring events.

Solution

The Compliance application enables you to generate events that follow a predictable schedule by defining a recurring schedule for the requirement. Using this recurring schedule and information you enter for the requirement, the application generates the events that are needed for completion of this requirement. This automates the process of creating this precise scheduling information.

Procedure

After entering information for requirements, you can use the application to generate scheduled events for the requirement.

1. Generate Events : From the Manage Compliance Drill-Down or Manage Compliance Requirements tasks, in the Save and Generate Events pane of the Define Requirements form, enter information for the event's schedule, such as the Event Duration (Days), Event Buffer, and the Date Initial Scheduling. Click Save and Generate. See Scheduling Compliance Events.
2. Review the generated events: Click the Events tab. The generated events are shown. Each event has a Date Scheduled Start and Date Schedule End to help you track the event.
3. Adjust the schedule : Later on, if you need to adjust information for the event, including rescheduling it, you can do so from the Schedule Compliance Events task. See Scheduling Compliance Events.
4. Review scheduled events on a calendar : Access the Show Events Calendar to see these generated events on a calendar for the time frame you select. See The Compliance Events Calendar.
5. Track events by regulation, compliance program, or requirement: View events by their regulation, compliance program, or requirement, or locate any event using the following operational reports:
   • Compliance Drill-Down
   • Regulations and Initiatives
   • Compliance Requirements
   • Compliance Programs
   • Compliance Event Finder
