Reviewing the Data in a Table
Use the Views tab and the Select Fields command to review the data in a table or the schema underlying a table.
To review a table's fields and the schema underlying a table:
- From the Explorer panel, select the Views tab.
-
Select the tables you want to review:
- Select the main table you want to review by clicking the row header for the table in the list. The list displays the table title and name for all tables in the A/FM Tables table. If needed, use the filter row to restrict the list. See Searching for Records Using the Filter Row.
-
Click Add at the top of the Views panel.
The grid displays the selected table with a default set of fields.
The table list now shows the list of tables that can be related to the table you selected. For example, if you selected the Buildings table, the list shows only tables that relate to the building's key fields. The Usage column indicates whether the table is a standard table or a child table in relation to the selected table.
- If you want to examine another table, select a table from the list and click Add. You can select up to three tables
-
Review the fields included in the table:
- Run View/Fields from the Ribbon.
- From the Tables list, select one of the tables you selected to examine its fields. The Tables list displays the names of the tables you selected.
- The Available Fields list shows the fields for the table that are not shown on the screen. Together, the fields in the Available Fields and Visible Fields lists include all fields for the table. Click Show All to show all fields for the table in the current view. You can also click and drag fields into the Visible Fields list to show the field in the current grid view.
- Review schema information: Select the check box Show Additional Field Info to show the Size, Data Type, and Archibus Type for the fields in the Available Fields and Visible Fields lists.
