per-application preferences

These are the default application preferences, such as Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Driver setting, that the program needs to run. These belong to the application as a whole and are stored in the \ProgramsFiles\Afmxx\Bin\AfmApplicationPreferences.ini file.

They need only be set once per client computer, regardless of the number of user accounts that there are using Archibus on that computer.

In general, there is no reason for users to override these settings. On many Windows systems, you must be an administrator to make changes to the program files subfolders. If you make a change to one of these preferences from the Options/Preferences command, and if you do not have permission to write to this file, the program displays a message: "Please contact your system administrator, as you do not have permissions on this workstation to change the following preference: MS SQL ODBC Driver.

A corresponding preference set in the per-site , per-user , or per-project preference files will override any per-application preferences.
