Archibus Smart Client Extension for Revit

Organize Data in BIM Explorer

By default, BIM Explorer shows main and linked models, as well as all levels, categories, and assets in the current model.

BIM Explorer includes configuration tools at the top left, a hierarchical Tree View on the left, and a Details pane on the right:

You can inspect model contents for each floor, or Revit level. To do so, navigate through levels in the Tree View.

Tree View Organization

Organization of Tree View data depends on whether the Revit model contains linked models. The example below illustrates the Tree View for a single model, with no linked models:

model_explorer_no_linked_model.png

Tree View hierarchy for a single model is:

  • Floor
  • Revit category, such as Specialty Equipment or Plumbing Fixtures
  • Revit family, for categories that support families. Otherwise, Revit family does not appear in the hierarchy.
  • Asset within the Revit category

The following example illustrates Tree View for a main model and one linked model:

model_explorer_linked_model.png

In this case, the model name appears between the floor and the Revit category. The Tree View hierarchy contains these parts:

  • Floor
  • Model name
  • Revit category
  • Revit family, if applicable
  • Asset

Details Pane

Data displayed in the Details pane depend on what you select in the Tree View. For example, when you select Floor at the top of the hierarchy, the Details pane displays values for Elevation, LevelName, and PrimaryKey:

The table below lists data in the Details pane for all five levels of the hierarchy in Tree View:

Tree View Configuration

You can configure what appears in the Tree View.

Levels Drop-Down List

The levels drop-down list appears above the Tree View:

Revit levels correspond to Archibus floors. In the example below, select:

  • All Levels
  • Attached levels only: attached levels have Archibus drawing properties set
  • Unattached levels only: unattached levels have not had Archibus drawing properties set
  • A specific level: model levels appear in the list

The sample drop-down list below contains several levels below the first three selections:

If a level has corresponding records in the afm_dwgs table, it appears in green. Levels that do not have records in the afm_dwgs table appear in black.

Tree View Content Configuration

The hierarchy configuration bar appears below the levels drop-down list:

The bar displays icons that represent the current tree view configuration.

To configure content in Tree View, click the content configuration bar to display three drop-down lists. Use these drop-down lists to select and organize model data:

Models

  • Main only: display content from the main Revit model only
  • Linked only: display content from linked models only
  • Main and linked: display content from the main Revit model, and all linked models

Depth

  • Levels: display Revit levels only
  • Levels and Views: display Revit levels, and views for each level
  • Levels and Assets: display Revit levels, and assets for each level

When you display both Revit levels and assets, assets appear grouped under Revit categories or Archibus asset types. See grouping options below.

Grouping

  • Categories: group assets by Revit categories
  • Asset type: group assets by Archibus asset types

When you group data, you can specify which categories and asset types appear in the tree.
