How to Add a New Security Group
If you want to control the data that users can access, you first need to define the various security groups —categories of users needing access to the same data.
- Select the System / Archibus Administrator - User and Security / Add or Edit Security Groups task, which loads the Archibus Security Groups table.
- Enter a unique group name and group title to the current list provided with Archibus.
Security groups establish the data that a user is permitted to see and edit. When developing security groups, keep in mind that a particular user can belong to any combination of security groups. Typically, you will group the access rights that Security Groups provide into security Roles, and assign those Roles to users. Thus, you can develop general security groups and then control the data that a particular user has permission to access by assigning the appropriate security Role.
For an example on assigning security groups to a user, see Example: How to Prevent a User from Seeing Financial Data.
