Defining Capital Program Types
Each capital program is defined in terms of a capital program type. For example, you could define program types such as Building Systems, Site, or Special Programs.
Although not required, adding program types and associating them with programs enables you to search for, generate, and view budgets by their program type.
Additionally, having projects associated with programs enables you to generate a capital budget that summarizes the allocated funds (capital or expense) for each program associated with the program. See Generating a Capital Budget from Project Data.
If you are going to define program types, define these types before you add programs.
The Business Process Owner can set up program types using the Set Up task from either the Capital Budgeting, Projects, or Commissioning applications. You can also define program types from Capital Budgeting's Budget process.
To define a program type:
-
Select the
Set Up / Define Program Types
task, or the
Budget / Define Program Types
task (using Capital Budgeting).
The Define Program Type form appears. All of the currently defined program types are displayed in the Program Type list. - Click Add New at the top of the Program Types panel.
- Enter values for the Program Type and Program Type Description fields.
- Click Save to save the new program type you have defined.
