Best Practices for Managing Home Pages for Tablets

When defining home pages for tablets consider these guidelines.

Be very editorial about what appears.

Wifi connections are inconsistent, and the tablets are slower to display graphics and data than desktop computers. The less information and more concise the information is, the better the user's experience will be.

Limit the number of items in a panel.

Avoid having so many items in panels, such as process panels, that the list scrolls.

Limit the number of records and fields in reports.

While you can pinch to zoom and swipe to pan large reports, doing so is awkward. Very large reports on a slow device can seem to freeze while scrolling. Reports that display the key information without zooming or scrolling are far more convenient.

Using summary reports with drill downs is a good way to reduce the amount of information on the screen at once.
