Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD

Remove Orphan Asset Text command

Command: AFM_EATEXT, or select Utilities/Graphic Commands/Erase Orphan Asset Text from the Ribbon.

Purpose : Deletes orphaned asset text entities but leaves all other entities selected. Orphaned asset text items point to a parent asset symbol that does not point back to them.

You may have orphaned asset text if you work on a drawing on a copy of AutoCAD that does not have Archibus loaded.

This command prompts you to select a group of entities. The command erases any of these entities that are asset text but are no longer linked to an Archibus asset symbol, and so are unnecessary.

This command is more convenient than the AutoCAD ERASE command, because the Remove Orphan Asset Text command has no effect on asset text that is properly linked. As such, you can safely window a large number of asset text entities and only the ones with missing links will be removed.

The command determines if an asset text entity is a duplicate by checking if the parent ehandle of the asset text points to a parent entity that does not point back.
