Defining Project Types

Each project is defined in terms of a project type. Therefore, before users can submit project requests, you must define the project types. For example, you could define project types such as New Construction, Property Acquisition, Commissioning, or Renovation.

Note : Although assigning N/A to a project enables you to save the project while indicating that it does not have a specific type, differentiating projects by type enables you to search for projects and generate reports by project types.

Before defining project types, you should define program types and create programs. For more information, see the Defining Capital Program Types and Adding Capital Programs topics.

To define a project type:

  1. Select the Set Up / Define Project Types task.
The Project Type form appears. All of the currently defined project types are displayed in the left frame.
  2. Click Add New in the Project Types panel.
  3. Enter values for the Project Type and Project Type Description fields.
  4. Click Save to save the new project type you have defined.
