How to Set Up a VPA by Site in the Archibus Users Table
To set up a VPA restriction that restricts a user’s access to information based on the sites to which they have access (as defined for them in the Archibus Users table):
- Access the Archibus Users table.
- Enter one of the following Site Code values for the user in the VPA Site Code List field:
Enter |
To grant access to: |
JFK |
Site JFK |
J% |
All sites that are prefixed with J |
Market, JFK |
Site Market or JFK data |
NULL,JFK |
All records that have no Site Code or that are in Site JFK |
NULL,J%,MARKET,OLDCITY |
Blank records, records LIKE HQ% or in JFK or in 1204 |
This example looks at user Z-VPA7, which has a JFK VPA Site Code restriction.
- Log on as the user with the VPA restriction and that user should only see data for the appropriate site. For this example, user Z-VPA7 would only access information for the JFK site.
- Open a view that presents sites. Notice that it presents only rooms for the JFK site.
Notes
The Employees table does not include a Site Code field and would
not be restricted by a site-level VPA restriction. In a case like this,
a Building Code restriction would be preferable.
See more examples of VPA restrictions by examining the users prefixed with
Z-VPA in the HQ sample project.
