Attach to Record command
Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD
Attach to Record command
Command: AFM_ATTACHTORECORD
How to Run this Command: Choose Archibus / Asset Graphic / Attach to Record from the Ribbon, or type AFM_ATTACHTORECORD at the command line.
Purpose : Use this command to link a block or drawing entity with an unattached record in the database. The block or drawing entity you select should be on the appropriate asset layer.
Running the Command
Choose this command, select a drawing entity that you want to connect to a record, and the system presents the Select Value dialog box listing all available records for the asset table corresponding with the asset layer on which the item is located. Choose a record from the list and the following occur:
- the command connects the selected entity and selected record to form an asset.
- the selected object is set to the appropriate layer
- a drawing label is added
As with all linked records and drawing entities, the command completes the record’s Entity Handle and Drawing Layer fields, stores extended entity data in the drawing item, and generates asset text.
For example, if you select a polyline on the Room asset layer, the program loads the Rooms view (the default CAD view for this asset layer) and presents the Attach to Record dialog box, which lists the records in the Rooms table that are not connected to asset symbols. Choose a record from the dialog box and the command connects the record and the polyline, catalogs the asset symbols, and generates asset text.
Selecting an Unlinked Drawing Entity
If you select a drawing entity that is not already linked to a database record and is located on an asset layer, the command presents the Select Value dialog box so that you can make the connection.
Selecting an Asset Symbol
If you select a drawing entity that is already linked to a database record (the drawing item is already an asset symbol), the command informs you that the item is linked and asks you to select another boundary.
Using the Attach to Record Dialog Box
The Attach to Record dialog box displays all records in the database table that are not currently linked to asset symbols (that is, the records that do not have values for the Drawing Name and Entity Handle fields). The dialog displays the records’ primary key fields, description fields, and possibly standard fields -- enough information so that you can identify the record to which you want to link.
If there are several unattached records, you may wish to filter the list of records that the dialog displays so that you can more easily locate the desired record. To restrict the list, enter criteria in the Filter row; as you type, the list updates to show only records matching the criteria you enter.
