Restricting Grid Views Using the Filter Icon Menu

Each field title includes a Filter icon that enables you to restrict the view to:

  • those records having only a particular value. You select this value from a list of all values for the field shown in the current view.
  • only records that do not have a value for the field.
  • only records that have a value

To set filters using the Filter icon menu:

  1. Mouse over any field title to display the Filter icon.
  2. Click the Filter icon to see the list of filter options.
  3. Select one of the following:
  • Blanks: Show only records that do not have a value entered for this field.
  • No Blanks: Shows only records that have a value for this field.
  • A specific values from a list of all values for the field in the current view.

When you make a selection, the view refreshes to show the data meeting your restriction.

Clearing a Filter Restriction

You can clear filter restrictions (restrictions you have set using the Auto Filter row or the Filter Editor) in the following ways:

  • Select Filter/Clear from the Ribbon.

    Note: If there is both a filter and a view restriction set for this view, the first click clears the filter restriction, and the second click clears the view restriction. See Clearing View and Filter Restrictions.

  • Click the X by the filter definition at the bottom of the screen.
  • Temporarily remove the filter, by clearing the check box from the filter definition that appears at the bottom of the grid.

  • Select the Filter icon for a field in the filter row that contains a restriction and select All from the menu that appears.
