Resolving Synchronization Issues
Archibus Smart Client Extension for Revit
Resolving Synchronization Issues
In some use cases, BIM modelers will edit the Revit model without Archibus attached. Or, they will edit the associated data within Archibus without the BIM model open. When you work in these ways, synch issues might occur. The following commands enable you to find and resolve the synch issues.
These commands can be run from the Ribbon by selecting Archibus / Utilities / Synchronization .
Use the following commands to resolve synchronization issues:
Command | Description | Help Topic |
---|---|---|
Read Database Values |
In previous versions, Read Database Values was the “Synchronize” command. In some use cases, you want to refresh the model-driven values from the database. For instance, suppose you have edited your Room Name values for consistency using Archibus. You can use this Read Database Values command to read those values back into the associated parameters of the Revit model. This is in contrast to the Catalog command that obeys the model-driven or database-driven parameter of the Revit-Archibus mapping. Catalog always writes model-driven values to the database and reads database-driven values to the model. |
Catalog Command |
Map Database Fields | Catalogs Revit model information to the Archibus database so that it is available in a consistent format across all elements and models. | Map Database Fields |
Enable Dynamic Updates | Use this command to turn off dynamic updates to speed your work when making bulk changes to a model. Enable dynamic updates once you have completed bulk updates. | Enable/Suspend Dynamic Updates |
Highlight Widowed Assets | Presents a dialog listing all assets that have Archibus parameter data, but that do not have an associated record. The dialog lets you clear the parameter data | |
Highlight Duplicately-Linked Entities | Presents a dialog listing all entities that have two or more entities associated with the same record. The dialog lets you select specific entities to uncatalog to eliminate duplicates | |
Uncatalog Records Without Assets | Prompts for an Asset Type, then presents a dialog with all model elements that have Archibus parameter data but do not have associated records. You can then uncatalog these elements to clear their parameters. | |
Display Log File | Archibus keeps a detailed log of actions and error messages for your current Revit session. If you are having difficulty with a particular sequence, such as not having data for a new parameter mapping show up in the database, you may wish to use the to check the log file. | |
Correct Shared Parameters |
In some cases, one of the Archibus commands will inform you that the existing parameters in the model are mismatched with the definitions in the Archibus BIM Parameters table, and the command will ask you to run this Correct Shared Parameters command. This condition typically occurs when you merge models and data from databases that had been started separately, and the parameters have information, such as the GUID assigned by Revit, that do not match. Be sure to back up your Revit model before invoking this command. This command exports your shared parameter data, recreates your shared parameters using the definitions and GUIDS in the Archibus BIM Parameters table, then re-imports your shared parameter data. When re-importing data, the command matches the old values to the new values based on the shared parameter name (for example, "Room Standard"). The command has no effect on shared parameters that are not in the Archibus BIM Parameters table. This command has no effect on read-only "Named" and "Built In" parameters or their values. |

Asset Standards to Symbol Mapper | In order to populate assets, you need family symbol names inserted into the appropriate Archibus standards table, so that Archibus knows what graphic goes with each data record. The Asset Standards to Symbol Mapper dialog helps with this task. It lists the Archibus standards table for the chosen Asset Type. For instance, it would list the Equipment Standards table for Equipment assets. The dialog lists Revit's catalog of Family Symbols on the right. If you choose the two to pair, and select the "Map" action, the Extension will load the family symbol into your model, and insert the name into the Archibus standards table. | Map Asset Standards to Symbols |
Clear Archibus Data from Model | Removes Archibus data from a model. Run this command when the model will no longer be used in Archibus. | Clear Archibus Data from Model |
