Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD

The Smart Client Extensions and the Database

The Archibus Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD , the Smart Client Extension for Revit, and Archibus Smart Client programs use the same set of Web Services to read and write to the project database.

When you start the Archibus Smart Client Extension for AutoCAD or Revit, the program connects to a database project, just as it does when starting the Archibus Smart Client.

In Archibus SaaS, the Smart Client Extensions for AutoCAD and Revit are installed locally and users work with drawings and data that is stored on the Cloud.

You can choose to concurrently run the Smart Client with the Extension for AutoCAD or Revit and task-switch between the Smart Client and drawing tool as necessary; or, run just the Extension for AutoCAD or Revit alone and then start the Smart Client when needed.

Suppose that you use the Extension for AutoCAD to delete the asset symbol for room 101. The Extension for AutoCAD instructs the database server program to remove the record for room 101. The next time that you open the Rooms view in Archibus Smart Client, you will see that the Rooms table no longer includes room 101.
