Define Waste Container Categories

Depending on the type of waste, you may need to dispose of it and transport it in a specific type of container. Use this task to define the categories of containers used at your site, for example steel drums, fiber drums, pallets, palletized small containers, and so on. Enter a value to identify the container category and a brief description.

It is good practice to include the size or other specifying information in your identifying value so that users will be able to choose the correct container in other parts of the program. For example, you may wish to enter "55-gallon steel drum" and "55-gallon plastic drum" if your site uses both types of drum containers.

Note : The Container Category table includes records for containers that are identified by the same IDs as defined by the EPA. These records are provided as a courtesy to help US companies quickly get started with the Waste application so that they do not need to enter these EPA-based records. Non-US users can delete these EPA-based records and enter their own data, based on the government regulations to which they must adhere.

You can enter the following information to define waste container types:

Container Category Enter the unique identifier for this container type. You might want to include the initials of the regulatory agency that approves the use of this type of container and an additional unique ID.
Description Enter a description that helps users correctly identify the container when they are selecting container types for a particular instance of waste.
