Translating User-Defined Fields
Translating User-Defined Fields
Space Managers and Workplace Managers may add user-defined fields in their own language, and these fields must be localized to display correctly in the user interface. Once a user creates a user-defined field, Archibus creates a record in the Archibus Fields Language Translations table (afm_flds_lang) so that the user-defined field can be translated.
Example
A Space Manager of a hospital network with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland defines an enumeration field: "Pression ambiante," which is the French version for "Room Pressure." Switzerland has three official languages: French, German, Italian. The System Administrator must translate this field title to German (Raumdruck) and Italian (Pressione della stanza). Likewise, the values for the enumerated list, which in French is Negative;Positive, must also be translated to German (Negativer;Positiver) and Italian (Negativa,Positiva).
In this case, the localization coordinator follows this procedure to translate this new field:
-
Load the
System / System / Add-In Manager / View Archibus Translation Dictionary
view to look up user-defined fields that may need translation:
- Use the Smart Search Console to filter for the Archibus Table = ‘rm’ and click on the record defining the rm table.
-
In the Archibus Language Translations panel's Smart Search Console, type e "udf" in the Field Name; this finds all user-defined fields.
- Locate the “Pression ambiante” field and click on the Edit button next to it.
-
Archibus displays the Archibus Fields Language Translations edit form. For the Room Pressure field, enter the translations in German and Italian for the Field Title and Enum List . The fields in which to enter the translations in German and Italian are:
- ML Heading (German)
- Enum List (German)
- ML Heading (Italian)
- Enum List (Italian)
- Restart the application server. The translations are now available in the Define Rooms form and in the Space Console - Room tab when you sign in with a German or Italian locale.
