Archibus Web Central

Signing In

This section describes signing in as a registered or guest user.

Accessing the Archibus Sign-In Page

You start the Archibus Sign-In page by clicking on a Web URL. The Archibus Web Central URL is typically in the form http://myserver:8080/archibus . You can access the URL link with the following methods. Once you access the page, you can bookmark it for future access.

  • typing in your Internet browser the URL address provided by your system administrator
  • selecting from your list of Internet browser favorites or bookmarks (as established by your system administrator)
  • selecting a link from a corporate intranet portal
  • selecting from an embedded URL link in an email. If you receive the link in an email, click on it (or press Ctrl and click on it).

Signing In and Choosing a Language as a Registered User

If you are a registered user, your system administrator will have previously established a user name, password, default locale , and security profile. Your system administrator will also have defined which projects, applications , processes, and roles you can access.

To sign in as a registered user:

  1. On the Archibus Web Central Connect screen, select a facilities management project from the drop-down list.
  2. Enter the user name and password that your system administrator assigned to you.
  3. Click the Log In button.

Note: Your default language is determined by your Locale setting. You can change your default Locale and your password (if allowed). For information, see Changing your User Preferences and Password.

Signing In as a Guest User

If you do not have (or need) a registered account on the system, you can access the Archibus Web Central self-service portal by signing in using a guest account. Guest access can vary, as dictated by organizational needs. Typical guest account tasks include locating employees, booking conference rooms, and printing out visitor passes.

If Archibus Web Central has been configured to accommodate guest user accounts, you can sign in by clicking "Log In as Guest." The system signs you in and displays tasks for limited functionality, as established by the system administrator.

Signing in to the Sample HQ Project

If you are learning Archibus, you can sign in as a sample user and explore Archibus using the extensive set of sample data. You will sign into the HQ project using one of the sample user names. Each sample name corresponds with a typical Archibus user and accesses the features available to that user.

See Sample Users .

Troubleshooting Sign In Problems

If your user name is not recognized, verify your project selection. You may not have an account for the selected project. Contact your system administrator if you are not sure which projects you are authorized to access.

Running Web Central from Different Ports on the Same Server

If you are running two instances of Web Central from different ports on the same server, when you switch browser tabs between the two Web Central instances, Web Central requires re-authentication. This means that you cannot stay logged in to both services simultaneously.

If you need to work from two Web Central instances running from the same server, you will need to sign in each time you switch between the Web Central instances.

Personalized Data Presentation

Your sign-in session may operate within a Virtual Private Archibus (VPA) partition, which restricts the data that the program presents. If you see fewer records or fewer columns of data than a colleague and are using the same link, the reason is typically that you have different VPA restrictions.

If you believe you ought to see additional data, contact your system administrator to request a change in your access rights.
