System / Archibus Administrator - Application Configuration

The migration wizard lets the Archibus Administrator create a new organizational hierarchy from the existing Division and Department hierarchy. Maps data from the rooms, employees, groups tables over to the new hierarchy. The new organizational hierarchy lets you create an unlimited organizational hierarchy.

Step 1. Introduction

Use this wizard to set up your new Organizational Unit hierarchy and migrate your Locations, Employees and Assets from the old Business Unit → Division → Department structure.

You can:

Convert your existing 2-tier or 3-tier structure into a flexible, unlimited-tier hierarchy,

OR

Use an existing unlimited-tier hierarchy that you've already converted or created manually

Afterward, you will map your data into the new structure.

Click Next and the Convert Hierarchy displays.

Step.2 Convert Hierarchy or Skip Conversion

If you currently use a 2-tier or 3-tier hierarchy, you can convert it to the new Organizational Unit structure. Division → Department or Business Unit → Division → Department are both supported.

Option A — Convert hierarchy

The system will:

  • Convert Business Units, Divisions, and Departments into Organizational Units
  • Create the new multi-tier hierarchy

Option B — Skip conversion

Choose this option if you have already defined or converted your hierarchy, and want to proceed with mapping your data.

Step 3. Review Hierarchy

Compare the new hierarchy with your old department structure on the left.

If you want, you can click Delete and Start Over or if everything looks right, click Continue to Data Mapping.

Step 4. Map Data

Now that your Organizational Unit structure is ready, map your existing data from Departments into the new hierarchy.

This adds Organizational Unit associations without removing Division–Department assignments, which are still required by many applications.

Select the data you want to map, either:

  • Rooms (rm)
  • Groups (gp)
  • Employees (em)
  • Assets (eq)

Click the Start Mapping button.

Click Close.

Step 5. Review Data

Click the Review Data.

Review the converted hierarchy and mapping results.

  • Number of organizational levels created: 3
  • Number of organizational units created: 196

The following records have been assigned to organizational units:

  • Rooms: 4,325
  • Groups: 400
  • Employees: 2,283
  • Assets: 1,558

Your migration is complete. You can now exit the wizard.
