Data Printer Installation and Troubleshooting
Install the DataMax M-4206 Printer (Mark I and Mark II variants)
Windows 7 DataMax Printer Installation Instructions (64 bit/32 bit) (user)
If you come across not being able to load the Seagull file after the initial driver update from step 3 below, then please read the following instructions below for guidance:
-
Make sure that the printer is turned on and installed correctly under "printers and faxes" folder...the device should be assigned under printers and not 'unassigned'. If 'unassigned', right click and click 'troubleshoot' so that windows 7 can move it as an assigned printer.
-
Go to your internet options and add your TRAC URL to the ‘trusted sites’… enable everything except pop-ups under “custom level” under “security tab”. Also make sure that you have the correct preference turned on for ‘routing’ labels on your TRAC site (admin, mail, preferences).
-
If all above is completed successfully but the TRAC site is still giving "seagull runtime error", then the next step is crucial for getting the printer to work on a Windows 7 computer.
Make sure that you have full admin rights before completing the steps.
-
Open your windows internet browser (explorer, chrome, etc) and go to Downloadable Content.
-
Click “Mail / Datamax Printer Drivers (software installer)” link and extract these files to your desktop. Make sure to "unblock" zip file after transfer (if possible) and run the file as administrator (to do this right click the zip file, go to properties and click unblock at the bottom).
-
Open extracted folder and click on the DataMax_7.1.4 icon first and run as administrator.
-
Run the installplugin.bat file as an administrator and make sure that it says “succeeded”. If not, then please follow the steps below.
-
Copy the SeagullWebClientRuntime.dll file from the “DataMax Drivers” folder to your C:/Windows/System32 located on your computer (unblock this file first, if possible.)
-
Reboot your computer.
-
Upon return, run the Win7SeagullInstall.bat file from the “DataMax Drivers” folder as an administrator and it should say "succeeded"!
-
Run a test print and make sure everything works correctly.
