Offline Mode

Eptura Asset has an offline mode so that technicians can work in remote locations without an internet connection. The offline mode is necessary when technicians service equipment in basements of older buildings where an internet connection is unreliable or unavailable.

This will download a work order to your mobile device and you can keep working on it without an internet connection. You can add notes to the work order and these will be automatically synchronized when you reconnect to the internet.

Typical Workflow

ONLINE

  1. Open a work order you want to work on.
  2. Banner displays "Save for offline use"
  3. Tap Download and the banner briefly displays "Downloading ..."

OFFLINE

  1. Technician physically goes to an offline location.
  2. Open the same work order.
  3. Banner displays "Available offline"
  4. Add your note(s) to the work order.

If you have not finished your note, that's okay, close the screen. When you come back to the same work order, your unsent text will be waiting in the field.

Troubleshooting

Cause Resolution
If you open a work order and the banner displays "Not available offline" then the work order wasn't downloaded.  You will need to reconnect to the internet and download the work order.
If your work order's offline data is out-dated (older than 24 hours).

Reconnect to the internet, open the work order, and download the data.

Synchronization fails If the synchronization fails, then tap Retry.
Most of your notes were synchronized, but one or more were not. OR if you see a partial sync message.

While you are online, tap Sync.

If it still fails, then open the work order and the banner will display a message with the reason.

My mobile device has run out of battery or it has restarted while I was working on a work order. What happens with the notes?

Offline notes are stored on your device, and they will remain on the device, so when the device restarts and you reconnect to the internet, the notes will be synchronized.

What happens if another user changes the work order while I am offline?

When you reconnect to the internet, the work order is synced and you will see the latest version; your offline notes are added to the work order.

Known Limitations

  • Photos and attachments can't be viewed or added when offline.
