Tips on Writing Up an Idea

Ideas can take on all shapes and forms but to clearly explain what you are thinking, the idea needs to be written as a user story. When you write a user story it will focus on the business problem or pain point instead of the feature.

Why do this?

When the user story is read by the Product Owner it will assist them in understanding the who, what, and why. Also, the Product Owner can identify a solution that will benefit the Eptura Asset Community as a whole and this they can prioritize the development work.

How do I tell a good user story?

In the past it was long requirements that bored everyone to sleep, now we use Agile development and the written requirements are for the user and written by the user

Format:

As a <role>, I want <some goal> so that <some reason>.

  1. Click on a rating to vote how important the feature is:
    • Not Important - While this may be helpful, it is not required to meet our needs.
    • Nice-to Have - This would be cool, convenient, or useful.
    • Important - This would solve a major need.
    • Critical - Without it, we'd consider switching to another product.
  2. Click the Submit button.

Ideas submitted through the idea portal will be reviewed periodically by the Product team. Ideas that align with our strategic objectives will be promoted to the 'Features Under Consideration' section of the idea portal to gather additional feedback from our customers. All ideas and suggestions are welcome, but not all ideas will be approved and developed.

View the Under Construction Features

In the Under Construction tab, you can gain insight into the direction Eptura Asset is heading, provide feedback, and vote on ideas. The ideas are categorized into the following timeframes:

  • In Development - Idea is in active development.
  • Planning - Ideas likely to be developed.

This is an indication of intent but does not represent a delivery commitment within the presented timeframe. It is subject to change based on strategic priorities, marketing conditions, and other factors impacting the business.
