Recommended Practice
When you are working on your custom reports, we recommend the following:
- While you are editing a report, make sure that you save often.
- When you have finished working on a report, remember to download the BI report file and save it as a backup.
- Finally, we recommend that your Administrator create an archive folder, so that you can archive reports instead of deleting them.
Skills for Report Editing
Basic
If you have limited experience of editing reports, remember we have reports that you can duplicate and then make changes. These changes can be the following.
- Change the logo to be your company logo.
- Format the font and styling of the fields.
- Change the report layout to merge or split cells.
Advanced
If you have a Data Analyst in your organization, then they will have the skills to complete advanced edits. The advanced tools are the following:
- Understand joins and parameters.
- Use the Formula Editor and Auto Sum.
- Ability to select and configure data visualizations such as charts or graphs that connect into a dashboard.
Standard and Custom Reports
Your Administrator can set up the Custom Reports folders and they can grant or remove permissions to the folders.
The module contains a list of Standard Reports and Custom Reports; learn more in Navigate the BI Menu.
Schedule Reports
If you need a regular report or dashboard, these can be scheduled to be sent to specific recipients. Then later you can alter the schedule in the Manage Schedule Reports.
Download the BI Report File
After you have finished working on a report, we recommend you download the BI Report file. Then you can back up this file in your organization's internal folders. Learn more in Download a BI Report File.
Archive a BI Report
We recommend that your Administrator create an Archive Folder, so that you can archive reports instead of deleting them. Learn more in Archive a BI Report.
