STid Architect Blue Reader Configuration

If you already have the STid Architect Blue Reader and this was not already configured for use with Proxyclick QR codes, please follow the setup steps below.

The info below details our configuration of the STid Architect Blue Reader so it may function with Proxyclick-generated QR codes.

Testing was completed using an STid USB / RS485 converter cable (Part Number: CNV_USB_485) and SECard Software.

The reader used in our testing was an ARCS-R31-AQ/BT1-3La/1 (QR/Wiegand output/read only).

It’s possible that your setup may have additional requirements and the configuration will differ, this guide should therefore be taken only as an example and focuses only on QR code reading setup.

If you are using the SECard Software to create a DESFire configuration card, you may skip any steps involving the USB / RS485 converter cable.

If you require any assistance with the reader setup process or functions not mentioned below, you should contact STid support directly - support@stid.com

 SEcard - SCB Configuration wizard

Reader Configuration

  1. Select “Reader configuration” from the menu on the left then select “Start my reader configuration” from the top of the page - this will open the SCB Configuration wizard.

  1. Click the “Settings” button for the top entry in the list: “Reader configuration”
  2. Step 1 - Select the correct version of the SECard software you have in use and hit “Next”
  3. Step 2 - Select “Wiegand or Clock&Data (R31)” under the TTL section Then activate Matrix code/QR code under the Features activation section
  4. Step 3 - Select “Wiegand 32 bits - 3La” under Protocol ID. Other settings may remain as default

  1. Further steps can be completed or ignored depending on your required setup or preferences
  2. Step 9 - Matrix code type selection = QR code Matrix code format = Decimal - selecting “Hexadecimal” or “ASCII” will mean Proxyclick QR codes are either ignored or return incorrect info.

  1. Select “Validate” to complete this section of the setup.

Configure QR code settings

  1. Click the “Settings” button for the “Matrix/QR code” entry within the SCB Configuration wizard.
  2. Data read = Selection
  3. Settings - Size = 8 (as we generate 8 digit tokens in the QR code) Offset = 0 (as Proxyclick encode the token at the start and end of the string)

  1. Select “Validate” to complete this section of the setup.
  2. You may now close the SCB Configuration wizard.

Load the settings onto the reader

Back in the Reader configuration section of the SECard software, if using the USB / RS485 converter cable, you can now select “Load Configuration with cable”. A loading bar will then show the status of the configuration being sent to the reader:

If using another method to configure the reader, perhaps via config cards, please follow the steps provided by STid.

Following the steps above will mean the reader is set to:

A - Read Proxyclick QR codes

B - Output the 8-digit decimal token number as 32 bits of Wiegand data.

A simple rule in the ACS to read all 32 bits should give you the exact token number encoded to the QR.

Other functionality is available using this reader and you may configure it to function with various physical or Bluetooth credentials. You will need to ensure these features do not conflict with the requirements for reading Proxyclick QR codes if so.
