Alternative QR Code Readers

Other QR code readers may be compatible with the QR codes we send to visitors, but these should be tested and confirmed before deployment.

QR code reader requirements

  • The QR code reader must be able to read and isolate either the first or last 8 digits of our access control QR code, see Reader Output Format.
  • When it reads those 8 digits, it must be able to output this number in the correct way (typically Wiegand) and with enough data bits to contain an 8-digit number (requires 28 bits minimum).
  • This also needs to take into account any other additional bits needed (site/facility code, parity, etc.):

- 2 parity, 8 site, and 28 data bits would mean 38 bits in total.

In addition to the QR code being able to read, decode, and output our QR code data to the reader, the controller it is connected to must be able to accept that same format.
