Edit an Asset Details

When working on an asset, you can edit the Asset Details to update the general details, specifications, custom field, costs, child asset, and to add notes, attachments, or links.

Access the Asset Details


  1. From the menu, click Assets
  2. Click the Asset you want to edit and the Assets Details screen displays.
  3. Click the Details clipboard_62631c1a-ba2b-455e-bb95-7a2af90c6a7b.png icon and the Asset Details panel displays.

The panel contains the following tabs:

Details tab


This tab contains the general details, specifications, custom fields, and costs

General 

Field Description
Asset ID Enter the Asset identifier and this must be a unique number. For example, Truck 001, Truck 002 and so on. 
Description Enter a short description of the asset. You can use letters, numbers, or a combination of up to 24 characters. For example, 2017 White Chevrolet Silverado.
Site

Select a site that the asset belongs to.

Group

Select an asset group and this describes where an asset belongs, who uses it, and what they use it for. The Group field is used for reporting and sorting purposes and is defined during configuration.

For example, an asset group can be used to describe a location or a department that the asset belongs to.

Budget Select the budget assignment and the budget is used to collect transactions. The budget assignments is defined during configuration.
Status Select the status either Active, Inactive, Scrapped, or Sold.
Customer Select the customer that the asset belongs to. For example, if you perform maintenance on customer-owned equipment.
Parent Asset Either select from the list or search for the parent asset.

Sub Category
Maunfacturer

Select the manufacturer of the asset.

Manufacturers defined by your Administrator during set up.

Model

Select the model of the asset.

Models defined by your Administrator during set up.

Serial # Enter the serial number of the asset.
Barcode/Tag Specify a custom barcode using your company naming convention. System-generated and custom barcodes can both be used.

GENERAL

Click GENERAL expand clipboard_ec8fbfc012a99f7072bc4872e156007c6.png icon.

This displays the custom fields that are created for the Category. Learn more in Add or Edit Asset Custom Fields.

Costs

Click Cost expand clipboard_ec8fbfc012a99f7072bc4872e156007c6.png icon.

Field Description
Purchase Date Select the date the asset was purchased.
Purchase Cost Enter the amount that was paid for the asset.
Useful Life (Months) Enter the amount of expected life in months for the asset.
Salvage Value Enter the expected value of the asset.
Sold Date

Select the date the asset was sold.

Save


  • When you have completed your updates, click the Save button.
